The Golden State Warriors have signed the biggest advertising deal in the NBA this week after they sold a space on their jersey to Japanese company Rakuten for the next three years.
According to the sources, the deal is worth about $20 million every year which is double the amount that Cleveland Cavaliers got for their sponsorship.
This deal means the Golden State Warriors will showcase the logo of Rakuten on the back and front of their shirt all season.
Rakuten is home to a couple of companies which includes Ebates, Viber, and Kobo. And the company has been very active in sports sponsorship in the last few years and they are also the shirt sponsor for Barcelona which is worth $262 million dollars for 4 years.

“We are in love with sports,” Hiroshi Mikitani the founder of Rakuten founder and CEO said. “A lot of emotions are involved in sports so we want to be a part of it “.
The fact that the Golden State Warriors have won the NBA title twice n the last 3 years and have the best players in the league with the likes of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all set to done the Golden State Warriors Jerseys with the Rakuten logo this season.
It is believed that the deal would serve as new threshold for top clubs in the NBA in the coming future.
