Ben Affleck stated that he has finished his treatment at rehab for his alcohol addiction.
The actor said that he wants to be “the best father he can be”, and that he’s been battling alcohol addiction.
In a Facebook post, Affleck shared his treatment and stated how lucky he is to having the support of his family and friends.
He wrote: “I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront.
“I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be.
“I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”
“I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
The acclaimed actor and director has three children with Jennifer Garner -Violet (11), Seraphina (8) and Samuel (5).
A way to reconcile:
According to reports that surfaced last week, Garner and Affleck put their divorce on hold. A source stated that the couple are “giving things another try”.
Both actors haven’t publicly confirmed or denied the reconciliation rumors, but it’s clear that they are quite fond of one another.
During an interview last October, Affleck praised Gardner saying that he was impressed by her political activism and adding how great a mom she is.
Gardner has also spoken positively about Affleck, saying that the couple remain “great friends”, and stating, “We’re doing really well.”
Affleck has sought help for alcohol abuse before, in 2001, he checked into rehab.
David Pollick, his publicist, said at the time: “Ben is a self-aware and smart man who has decided that a fuller life awaits him without alcohol. He has chosen to seek out professional assistance and is committed to travelling a healthier road with the support of his family, friends and fans.”
