Manchester United legend and former coach, Ryan Giggs, believes the team’s captain, Wayne Rooney could stay back at the club if he is willing to play a fringe role in the team next season.
In spite of the fact that Wayne Rooney became Manchester United all-time leading goal scorer after surpassing the record of Bobby Charlton. He did not feature regularly for the team in the entire season as he played second fiddle to both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford.
The England and Manchester United captain started only 15 English Premier League games last season with five goals for his effort and has been constantly linked with a return to Everton and a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League. But Ryan Giggs is of the opinion that Rooney would stay at the club.
“Wayne Rooney is a top goalscorer and when he has a chance he will definitely find the back of the net anytime,” Giggs said in a chat with Skysports News.
“But it all depends on whether he will accept the fact that he might no longer be in the first team or if he can play the same way I did when I grew older as I could not play the whole game, but I also contributed greatly to the team”
“If he can change his game then I am sure he will be at Manchester United for a long time.”
The begining of the end of Rooney
Wayne Rooney has been shut out of the England squad and has stated that he already has a lot of offers to consider in both England and abroad as the club is currently on the trail of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata. However, he is still highly revered at the club and it is believed that he will not be forced out of the club.
