Rooney got his 200th English Premier League goal as Manchester City left it late before getting an equalizer against Everton.
Manchester City was shocked in their home stadium after a fine strike by Wayne Rooney which was made worse by the dismissal of Kyle Walker after his second booking in two minutes.
Manchester City fought back to level the game and avoid a second home defeat under Pep Guardiola.
Rooney got his 200th goal after a fine play by Dominic Calvert-Lewin to give his team the lead midway through the first half.
Everton’s journey was made even easier as the Manchester City’s Kylie Walker saw red but in spite of the home team’s numerical disadvantage. The home team kept on pressing on after the first half and were rewarded for their effort with a late goal from Raheem Sterling late in the second half.
Everton also ended the game with just 10 men as midfielder Schneiderlin was given the marching orders for a tackle on Sergio Aguero.
Rooney Joins Shearer
Rooney’ s lone goal makes him the second player to reach the 200 goal mark after Alan Shearer who played for both Blackburn and Newcastle United. The latter sent him a congratulatory message on Twitter and Rooney made use of the opportunity to troll Manchester City fans after scoring once again against his former team’s nemesis and city rivals.
