Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has revealed the reasons why he dropped, Alexis Sanchez, in their community shield game against Chelsea.
Sanchez was one of the players that watched the game from the bench as Arsenal defeated Chelsea to win this season’s first trophy in Wembley.
Not Enough Training Time For Sanchez
Sanchez returned to Arsenal this week after he was given an extended holiday after partaking in the Confederations Cup.
Wenger opened on the absentees when he was asked if they were going to take part of their first premier league game of the season.
“I had to leave them on the bench because players like Alexis Sanchez didn’t get enough time to train with the team.”
“Ozil, on the other hand, had a small knock on his ankle and has not trained for days. There is a chance that he could play on Friday.”
“Ramsey also stands a chance of playing on Friday”
However, in spite of the absence of Alexis Sanchez, the team had a lot of bite in attack as new signing Alexandre Lacazette gave the Chelsea defence a lot of heat. He struck the cross bar in the first half following a fast counter attack by Arsenal.
This is the second consecutive time Arsenal will be defeating Chelsea at the Wembley Stadium.
